Pisgah '58 Set
Pisgah ’58 – Humbucker Set
The Pisgah ’58 set is our tribute to the earliest days of the humbucking pickup, when simple materials, careful winding, and a bit of unpredictability created some of the most celebrated tones ever recorded. Inspired by the original late-1950s PAF designs, this set honors that history while introducing a subtle modern refinement for today’s players.
Much like the Pisgah National Forest and the Appalachian Mountains that surround it, the character of these pickups is shaped by resilience and simplicity. Life in those mountains was never extravagant, it was only honest, hardworking, and enduring. The same spirit defined the earliest humbuckers: straightforward construction, natural variation, and tone that proved timeless.
The Pisgah ’58 bridge, wound to approximately 8k with an Alnico 4 magnet, delivers balanced power with articulate mids and a firm low end. It retains the classic PAF openness while adding a touch of modern clarity and punch. Perfect for everything from vintage rock tones to expressive modern playing.
The Pisgah ’58 neck, coming in around 7k with an Alnico 2 magnet, offers warmth and smooth response with a soft, musical top end. Chords bloom with depth, and lead lines carry a vocal quality that feels both vintage and expressive.
Together, the set captures the humble foundation of the original PAF, that clear, dynamic, and responsiveness, while being carefully voiced for modern rigs and playing styles. The result is a pickup set that respects the past without being bound by it.
Like the music that grew from the hills of Appalachia, the Pisgah ’58 is rooted in tradition yet continues to evolve. It’s a reminder that the sounds born in simple places often travel the farthest.
