Some of us grew up with music before we ever played it.
It was in the house. In the car. Coming through a wall from the next room. Someone's hands on a guitar, a record crackling, a voice that made you feel something you didn't have words for yet. That's where it starts for most of us. Not a lesson. Not a plan. Just a feeling that got under your skin and never left.
North Carolina's had that feeling for a long time. The mountains, the coast, the small towns in between. Music grew out of this place naturally, the way things do when people are just trying to make sense of their lives. Appalachian folk, Mountain bluegrass, Carolina blues and Coastal shag. Honest music, made by honest people. No agenda. Just expression.
That's what we think about when we build a pickup.
Core Sound Pickups is based here in North Carolina. Our name comes from the Core Sound, a quiet stretch of water along the Eastern coast, clear, quiet and honest. We wind every pickup by hand, in small batches, because we believe the instrument in your hands deserves that kind of care, as well as you.
Whether you've been playing for decades or you're still figuring out where your fingers go, none of that matters to us. What matters is that when you play, something gets through. Your touch. Your feel. The thing you're trying to say.
That's all music has ever been.
